Grandson #1 is on the wrestling team. He’s pretty good if I must say so myself. Last week was his first wrestling meet after taking a year off due to surgery and he came in second place. This week he seemed a little cocky. His granddad told him to warm up and start moving around to get prepared for his event. He said that he didn’t want to.
That’s when I saw her, his opponent. She was wearing her pink and black wrestling gear. She was laser focused, jumping around rocking back and forth. She was getting ready for battle.
I thought it was my grandmotherly duty to take him to the side and give him some words of my wisdom. I told #1 to look at how that girl was getting prepared to wrestle him. I suggested to him he get his muscles warmed up but he declined. I also instructed him that when she gets on that mat she is no longer a girl but just a wrestler and to wrestle her to win.
They shook hands and that girl started manhandling his ass. I thought whoa! First round I thought ok she had a little lucky streak but my #1 just needed to warm up. Well by round 2 I realized that he wasn’t going to get warmed up. Forgive me but I started cheering for the girl to whip his a$&! My mouth shouted ” come on #1″ but inside my mind, I was saying you go little girl show him what you are made of. It was coming to the end of the match and I was hoping so bad that she pinned his little ass and I felt so guilty for having these thoughts. I have never cheered for anyone who wrestled against my grand before.
This was so much bigger than an ordinary wrestling match. This was about Girl Power! I had to choose girl power because we girls, ladies and women have to stick together. Today I choose girl power and I stood there with pride that the little lady represented us well. I consoled my #1 grandson after his defeat. In my mind I was saying that will teach his ass not to underestimate another female again!
you tried to tell him but like most men he failed to listen !!

I am so sorry, but this made me LOL and my husband looked at me. No matter how much we love our boys, if a girl beats them at any sport as a female, it is GIRL POWER! I’m with you on that.

Good for her!
If he had warmed up, I would feel bad for him losing.
Next time he will, I’m sure.
Great grandmothering 😉
