I really love my Christmas gift from Mr. (My husband hates social media and don’t want any part of it so I refer to him as Mr) Now you are probably wondering what I got that’s so special to write a blog about it? (I think I’ll build up to the gift)
Me and Mr have been together since I was 14 and he was 16 years old. He have always brought me gifts that…….I hated. Outdoor crap. He loves being outdoors not me. He usually buy me crap like thermal underwear, socks, snowmobile suit, (you know my ass wasn’t going snowmobiling, well one time I did) ugly boots with fur inside anything that would keep you warm. I didn’t need any of that sh…I mean stuff because the furnace will be on inside the house.
I am not kidding when I tell you for 3 years straight he brought me the same damn gray sweater. I even took my senior pictures in the sweater with him. (Laughing who in the hell takes their senior pictures with their boyfriend)? I on the other hand brought him great gifts like stylish clothes that ……..he hated. He would complain to me that I should have given him some socks or t-shirts. I asked who wants that crap for Christmas? We done this same cycle for many years. I then started buying myself presents to me from me. I wrapped them and put them under the tree. After we opened all the Christmas gifts the kids would say now let see what mom brought for herself? Ok in my defense….. forget it I’m not going to defend this behavior.
Somewhere down the years I started giving him business cards from a few jewelry stores with the information on the back. (Hey, It was still a surprise because I didn’t know which item I was getting). He then started telling me what he wanted for Christmas, we finally got this thing figured out. We did this for a few years until recently. We are now at the stage when we don’t need anything and it’s hard to buy for each other. He told me if I stop buying crap all year long it would be easier to buy for. I laughed.
This year after 32 years of marriage plus 4 years of dating, I brought him two pair of thermal underwear, pajamas pants and a work jacket with the hoodie attached to it. You would have thought the man won the lottery. SERIOUSLY?!!! Why hadn’t I done this before? Do you know how much money I could have saved?
Now to my gift. I’m not the person that needs the latest technology. I was happy with my phone until the damn thing wouldn’t let me do what I needed anymore. I was teased about my phone for a while until I got the IPhone 4s. When I went to work the next day everybody was commenting on my phone because they couldn’t believe I got a smart phone and I wondered why I didn’t get the IPhone 5. (Now I have to admit I’m still rocking this IPhone 6 like it’s new). I don’t care. Well Mr hates talking to me while I’m driving. He tells me all the time get rid of that cheap headset! my daughter tells me “mom I can’t hear you in that headset” (ok pretty much everybody keep asking me what did I say)? Everybody is deaf because there is nothing wrong with my headset because I hear great on it. Well Christmas morning one of my gifts was a new headset. So now I don’t have to keep asking “Can you hear me now”?. In conclusion, (I just like the sounds of that) It’s not how much you spend on a gift because I was so happy to see that headset and he was excited to get his gifts too. We finally got this gift thing down.
